The Keeper of the Flame signifies the importance of gathering, carrying and treasuring tales. Tales shared (and hopefully reshared) over our wines.

This Cabernet gives off a herby, tomato leaf aroma, complemented by flavours of black fruit and cherry. Medium-bodied, complex and superbly smooth.

  • The 2023 season gave grape growers some challenging growing conditions with a wet winter and spring period and cool conditions through the early part of the growing season. The result was later bud burst and flowering and
    a longer, cooler ripening season.

Harvest across the Clare Valley didn’t get going until early March, and the cooler conditions meant many were still picking through the end of April, with some red varieties taking their time to ripen fully.

Kind Words

  • "The Carrs source fruit from an old vine-improvement block at Spring Farm. It's all brambles and spearmint, blackcurrants and cedar. Some mulberry, the faintest lick of lavender. Energetic, upright. Layered with slate and ironstone, the classic Clare discipline and medium-bodied line. Beautifully fine and shaley tannins." 94pts

  • "Love this wine’s title! Cabernet is a traditional strength in the Clare Valley, but it can always do with more keepers of the flame like Anthologist. Dark purple hues, almost impenetrable. Not a wine you would describe as shy; far from it. It’s bold, it stands tall in dark chocolate, wild dark herbs, local mint, blackcurrant and blackberry with sweetly spiced oak and an even spread of ripe tannins. It has flavour to burn and is super approachable right now, should you choose Drink now–2035." 92pts
